How to Build a Hedge Fund Target List
I will show you the step-by-step on how to build a list of hedge funds (or long-onlys) to network with for job leads.
Step 1: long-only or long/short
Long-only: buy low, sell high. If everything's overvalued, they stay in cash.
Most big mutual fund companies are long-only — Fidelity, Wellington, Capital Group, T. Rowe Price. They are the supermarkets that offer products under every investment style: value, growth, income, core.
The smaller long-onlys have a style or sector focus — Diamond Hill (bought by First Eagle) is value, Cantillon is GARP, Baron and Sands are hypergrowth.
